01/02/14  I spent most of the day online, trying to source spares for my water pump, bilge pump, heat exchanger ......and some new lighting for the saloon, with only partial success.

04/02/14  Received my spare pump parts and heat exchanger caps.  Saloon lighting is out of stock until the 20th or thereabouts.

07/02/14  Doctor's surgery again for blood tests!

14/02/14  I heard sad news today that friends Jacquie and Phil of Whitby Lass, who helped me enormously in Kudat (January 2013 log), ran aground on a reef while making a night entrance to a harbour in NE Borneo.  This comes on top of their major damage suffered in the recent typhoon in the Philippines but sadly this time it was one reef too many and they have had to give up the boat.  Fortunately, neither was injured and are now on their way home to Australia.  I wish them both well.

16/02/14  Blood test results OK.......keep taking the tablets!!

19/02/14  Trev and Babs drove me to Gatwick airport to catch my flight to Germany to stay at Astrid's for a few weeks, and I was met at the other end by her, and her brother Andreas.

28/02/14  Off to Berlin today for a long weekend!  We should have caught the 0556 train from Montabaur to Cologne but a hiccup at the ticket machine caused a bit of panic!  Just as well that the train was actually running 45 minutes late and we were able to board OK. Changed trains at Cologne and boarded the express to Berlin Hauptbanhof, arriving there at 1230, then another train to Berlin Ostbanhof.  From there we walked a mile to our hotel, checked in and planned the afternoon.  On the tourist trail.....another walk to Heinrich-Heine Strasse underground station and the train to Bernauer Strasse where the Memorial of the Berlin Wall is situated.  We spent a couple of hours there walking round before heading off to Pariser Platz and the Brandenburg Gate by tube, bus and foot.  It was quite late by the time we made our way back to the hotel with aching bones and feet!
