01/12/24 Sun. The Christmas Tree lighting up ceremony was
scheduled for 6pm tonight but it was delayed until 7.30pm for some
reason. We had a grandstand view from the boat of the firework
display and the tree lights coming on. The tree used to be in
Baywalk but they moved it to the Peoples Park a couple of years ago and
made it 100 feet high. This year, it's 153 feet high!
04/12/24 Weds. A few days ago, I was locked out of my Microsoft
account - so no email available to me anymore. No matter what I
try, I cannot 'unlock' it. This is the second time this has
happened to me and it causes so much grief having to make another email,
then change all the apps, banking, and notify all contacts. I hate
Microsoft!
0812/24 Sun. Took Ana ashore this morning at 0500 for her
flight home.
10/12/24 Tues. The cruise liners that were due in to PP have not
arrived and looking at NCL it seems that all have been cancelled for
operational reasons.
11/12/24 Weds. I've been woken up in the early hours over the
last couple of days by vivid lightning flashes and thunder that made
everything on the boat shake and rattle. We've had strong winds
and torrential rain. This morning it dried up and a weak sun came
out. I went over to the yacht club and had a late lunch then made
my way to the airport to meet Ana. I arrived about 5 minutes
before the scheduled arrival, only to get a message from Ana saying they
hadn't yet taken off from Manila! So, off to the coffee shop and
settle in for an hour or so.
13/12/24 Fri. It's becoming obvious that we are not going to
be ready to leave before my visa expires again - I still have a few
'big' jobs to do onboard. That means we will be here over
Christmas and New Year, something I didn't want to do!
15/12/24 Sun. Carried out an engine oil change, cleaned the
oil filter and refilled the sump. Changed the gearbox ATF and ran the
engine to circulate the oil.
16/12/24 Mon. Off to Immigration today to renew my visa, filled
in all the forms and paid for the new one - have to go back on the 19th
to collect it.
17/12/24 Tues. We took out the water tank today and
replaced the pump suction elbow which has been leaking for sometime.
Hopefully it will now put an end to regular pumping out of the bilge!
18/12/24 Weds. It seems that some cruise ships are still
operating, Blue Dream Melody visited PP today for a few hours - a
Chinese owned cruise liner. I don't think I would enjoy such a
holiday, I just don't see the point of going somewhere and only staying
such a short time.
19/12/24 Thurs. Breakfast in the yacht club this morning, then
off to Immigration to collect my visa - 2 minutes and it was done!
Took a jeepney into town and did some market and supermarket shopping.
22/12/24 Sun. Not a good night last night, thunder and heavy
rains kept waking us up and it's rained most of today as well.
25/12//24 Weds.
28/12/24 Sat. We've had several days of continual rain with
dismal, grey overcast skies, so we are getting no (or very little) solar
power into the batteries. Today I've had to run the engine for a
couple of
hours to give a little to the batteries. Another cruise liner
arrived at 0800, Silver Dawn on a 13 day cruise from Singapore to
Hong Kong, the passengers on that will have nothing to do today and
nothing to see as there is less than a half mile visibility. At
$9400 a ticket (about $730 per day) that seems a complete waste of money
to me! They will be leaving for Coron at 1800hrs.
